Free Updation Of Aadhaar Card Extended: Check New Date

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the free Aadhaar document update period by three months.

You can update and upload your Proof of Identity & Proof of Address documents online free of cost from 15 March – September 14, 2023. Earlier the date was June 14, 2023

According to the UIDAI website, “Please update Aadhaar for continues accuracy of demographic Information. To update it, upload your proof of identity and proof of address documents.”

Free update should be done online at and for update at CSC will be charges Rs 25 as usual.

The Self-Service online option allows residents to change their addresses by immediately submitting a request on the site. To access the portal, the resident’s Aadhaar number and registered mobile number are necessary. The resident should authenticate using an OTP sent to his or her registered mobile phone number. Residents must upload the POA documentation to complete the update procedure.

How to upload address proof for free
Step 1: Visit Step 2: Login and select ‘Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update’
Step3: Click on ‘Update Aadhaar Online’
Step 4: Select ‘address’ from the list of demographic options and click ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’
Step 5: upload a scanned copy and enter the required demographic information

Step 6: Make payment of Rs 25. ( Not required till September 14).
Step 7: A Service Request Number (SRN) will be generated. Save it for tracking status later.
On completion of the internal quality check, you will receive an SMS

How to track update request
When you successfully submit an online address change request, you will be given a URN (change Request Number) in the format 0000/00XXX/XXXXX. This is displayed on the screen and sent through SMS to your registered telephone number. Track the status of your Aadhaar update using this URN and your Aadhaar number at:

When to update demographic details:

According to the UIDAI website, “Changes in life events such as marriage may lead to residents changing their basic demographic details such as name and address. Address and mobile number could also change due to migration to newer locations. Residents may also want changes in their relative’s details due to changes in life events such marriage, death of a relative etc. In addition, residents could have other personal reasons to change their mobile number, email address etc.”
