Mutton Rates Fixed in Kashmir | Check Rates

The Mutton Dealers Union in Jammu and Kashmir has clarified that there is no confusion regarding mutton rates. They have stated that meat with Offal will be sold at Rs 600 per kilogram, while meat without Offal will be sold at Rs 650 per kilogram.

Hilal Ahmed, the General Secretary of the All Jammu and Kashmir Butchers Union, mentioned that a few months ago, they had raised concerns about the high cost of mutton, which they were procuring at Rs 600 per kilogram from Delhi. He added that they, along with other buyers, will strive to ensure that prices do not increase. The current rates, as per Ahmed, stand at Rs 600 per kilogram with Offal and Rs 650 per kilogram without Offal.

Ahmed further appealed to the general public not to purchase mutton at prices higher than the rates mentioned on the rate list and to boycott such sellers.

Regarding price regulation, an official from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (CAPD) informed that they currently have clear instructions not to regulate the prices of mutton and other livestock products.

Previously, the government-approved price for mutton was Rs 535 per kilogram, but the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs recently instructed authorities to stop regulating the prices of livestock products.
